CPT George D. Wilson
George D. Wilson served as a company commander with the 22nd Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, during some of the most demanding ground combat of World War II in Europe. He fought from the Normandy campaign through the Hürtgen Forest and Battle of the Bulge and was wounded in combat. His decorations included the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, and Combat Infantryman Badge. Wilson later preserved the experience of frontline infantrymen in his memoir If You Survive, an enduring first-person account of combat leadership and sacrifice.
